Two killed in crash that damaged house
Two people were killed in a Friday night crash in Richmond Township in which a vehicle struck a house, Fleetwood police said.
Officials gave this account:
Jordan T. Barr, 23, of Maxatawny Township lost control of his pickup truck that was traveling at a high rate of speed along Moselem Springs Road, also known as Route 662, as he approached Forge Hill Road. The pickup truck hit a parked vehicle at 1689 Moselem Springs Road, sheared a utility pole, jumped a concrete retaining wall before crashing into the residence at 1677 Moselem Springs Road.
Barr and his passenger Javan L. Forster, a 20-year-old male, were trapped in the vehicle, and both died at the scene.
Barr was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Joel Bonilla. Barr died of multiple injuries, and the death was ruled an accident. No autopsy is planned. No further information was available on Forster’s death.
A dog also died in the crash.
No one inside the house was injured, but the structure sustained moderate to major damage, and residents were not allowed back in until it can be inspected.
Fleetwood police were assisted by the Berks County coroner’s office, the Walnuttown and Virginville fire companies and fire police units from Berks County departments.
Route 662 was closed for about five hours while crews responded to the crash.
