Elizabeth H. (Murdock) Leibert

Elizabeth H. “Betty” Leibert, age 94, of Macungie, previously of Emmaus, passed away on November 13, 2023 at Lehigh Commons in Macungie. She was the loving wife of the late Carl K. Leibert with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Collingdale, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Elizabeth (Hayes) Murdock. Betty graduated from Collingdale High School in 1948. She and her husband Carl met while both were working at General Electric Co. in Philadelphia. After her children started school, she served as a church secretary for St. John's Lutheran Church in Emmaus, Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown and Calvary Baptist Church in Allentown. She adored her family, Calvary Baptist Church, volunteering and her Irish heritage. She was an extraordinary friend, quick to laugh, and always concerned about the wellbeing of others. Betty is survived by her son, David Leibert and his partner, Tamar; her daughter, Karen Forsman and her husband Doug, and “Betty's grandchildren,” Colleen and Daniel.

She was predeceased by her brother, Archibald Edward Murdock. The family would like to thank the care and support of her faith community, Dr. Nancy Urankar, nephew Archie Murdock, and the team at Lehigh Commons Assisted Living. A Memorial Service honoring Betty will be held Saturday, January 6th at 10:30 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 4601 W. Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
