In Bill White’s final commentary in Sunday’s edition, he closed that he’ll miss us, the readers.

This reader will certainly miss his column on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. I could always count on his column for a good laugh, for some heartwarming stories, and/or for insights into our local community and government.

Many of his columns were purely for the fun of it, but even his more serious columns were delivered with humor and wit. Part of the importance of a local paper like The Morning Call is to inform readers of local and state issues.

His column has made me more aware of community needs, such as the Allentown warming station. It has also educated me about state and local government, including the Pennsylvania’s gerrymandering issue, which prompted me to get involved with Fair Districts PA. I wish Bill all the best in his well-earned retirement.

He worked together with both parties for a greater good. Hopefully President Trump can learn something from the legacy of President Bush.
