The Morning Call

Putch II likes to share our apples in the afternoons

-

Name: Charlotte Moyer and Tina Moyer

Hometown: Blooming Glen

Type of pet: Dog

Name: Putch II, named after a dog I had when I was young.

Age: 8 3⁄4

Breed: Yellow Lab

Gender: Male

Why he is my friend: He protects us, and wakes me if I fall asleep on the couch when he is ready to go into his bed. He is always by my side, gentle and patient. We take a nap together each afternoon.

In four words: Patient, polite, inseparable, handsome. Best traits: Gentle and never swipes food from the table.

Personality: He greets all family and friends with a warm welcome, but if he gets too excited he may jump until everyone sits down. Then we say bedroom and that’s where he goes with his red bone. He is everyone’s friend, but a very true friend to me, Tina and Myla.

A funny story: When his favorite people come to see us, he spins in circles like a top. This 70-pound dog is afraid of our two kittens, but I told him I wouldn’t tell anyone.

Loves: Myla, my granddaughter, and my daughter,

Tina. Myla has taught him every trick there is. He loves his walks with my daughter Tina.

Tricks: Sits, shakes, comes when called and even sits nice for his portraits.

Exercise: Walks with Tina, my daughter. He runs through the garden with Myla in the summer, and against our orders, he likes to ride along in the car for the mail.

Shows affection by: He takes his afternoon naps beside me while I scratch his back. The love in his face cannot be described.

Can usually be found: Where ever I am.

Likes to be rubbed: Back and under his ears. He lets me kiss his ears good morning.

Favorite toy: His red bone that Myla gave him for Christmas.

Favorite treat: He loves his Milk Bones, and loves to share an apple with me each afternoon.

Afraid of: Thunder, sirens and kittens.

Worst habit: Jumps up on people to greet them until they sit down. He just can’t help himself sometimes. Health scares: None, he is very good health and has regular check-ups.

Favorite sleeping spot: In his bed in my bedroom next to me or next me on the couch in the afternoon. Favorite animal friend: None — he is antisocial with other dog cousins. He prefers to get all of the love. Spoiled only child.

Strange but true: In his beautiful light golden coat, he has one black hair in the middle of his back. Maybe his dad had a fling with a black Lab.

Comments: Putch came from a family with allergies, and didn’t seem to have been trained or had any manners. They were giving him away and it was advertised in the want ads. His name was Comet when we met, which was a good name to match his behavior at the time. It was not long after we had him, with some time and patience, did he not only recognize himself as Putch, but he learned so many good behaviors and tricks. Again, there is no better friend and companion than Putch. He protects me while Tina works at night. He waits for Tina to get up in the morning to go for walk. You cannot mention Tina or Myla’s name without him getting excited.
