Allentown lawyer accused of pulling handgun on wife

- By Kayla Dwyer

A section of 19th Street in Allentown was closed for several hours early Wednesday morning as police tried to apprehend a city lawyer wanted for pulling a gun on his wife, according to a criminal complaint filed in Lehigh County court.

An apartment on the 600 block of 19th Street is where police believed 68-year-old Todd Miller, a personal injury lawyer whose law office is on that block, drove after making threats against his wife, according to the affidavit.

Miller, of Salisbury Township, was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He is being held in Lehigh County Jail on $50,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. March 6 before District Judge Michael Faulkner, court records show.

According to the criminal complaint:

Just after midnight, Salisbury police responded to a domestic complaint on the 1200 block of South 24th Street.

Denise Miller told police that her husband, Todd Miller, pulled a handgun from his pants and threatened to kill her. He then grabbed her right arm and pushed her aside, she told police, bruising her forearm.

Todd Miller was not at the house when police arrived, but might have headed in his Jeep to his apartment on 19th Street in Allentown, she told police.

This is not the first time he has abused or threatened her, Denise Miller told police.

Miller was arrested hours later in Allentown, near his law office on 19th Street.

Allentown police Capt. Bill Lake said officers responded to that block Wednesday morning to assist Salisbury police who were attempting to serve a warrant. He could not provide details of the incident because it was not an Allentown case.

He said officers at the scene attempted to make contact with a man for four or five hours, and that man eventually came out shortly after 6 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

Todd Miller has been providing legal services in the Lehigh Valley since 1975, according to his website.
