The Morning Call

Of The Morning Call And like The Ramones, Flogging Molly is the fun side of Celtic punk — more melodic songs and more madcap fun. But it also can be serious, like punk’s The Clash, as its latest disc, 2017’s “Life is Good” showed.

8 p.m. Friday, Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Road, Penn Forest Township (near Jim Thorpe). Sold out, but resale tickets available, www.ticket master.com, 800-745-3000. The music that allfemale indie pop band The Aces makes isn’t groundbreaking.

The group’s breakout single “Volcanic Love” is reminiscent of early-’90s chart-toppers Wilson Phillips. The songs “Last One,” released last summer, and the more recent “Stuck” sound like 1970s soft rock — or like the girl group Haim.

But it’s good music. The group’s debut album “When My Heart Felt Volcanic,” released a year ago, is solid, shimmering pop. And clearly there’s a market for it. Videos for those songs are approaching, or exceeding, a million views on YouTube, and The Aces supported boy band 5 Seconds of Summer’s summer tour.

Now it’s selling out its own tour.

8 p.m. Friday, The Fillmore Philly, 29 E. Allen St., Philadelphia. Sold out, but resale tickets available, www.live nation.com, 800-745-3000. The Monkees, the 1960s sitcom TV rock band, was a cultural phenomenon. Its first four albums went No. 1 and sold a combined 15 million copies. In just two years, it had six gold hits, five of which went to No. 1.

But beyond that, The Monkees’ music was undeniably great. The fact that, more than 50 years later, songs such as “Last Train to Clarksville” and “I’m a Believer” still resonate is a testament to their quality.

The tour by surviving Monkees Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz would have been worth seeing regardless, but the Feb. 21 death of bassist Peter Tork makes the show even more significant.

8 p.m. Wednesday,

Keswick Theatre, 291 N. Keswick Ave., Glenside. Sold out, but resale tickets available, www.keswicktheatre .com, 215-572-7650.
