Meth found during search, police say
Police executed a warrant shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Broad Street in Emmaus and charged one man with drug offenses.
Michael R. Gross, 51, who lives in the home, was charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ardetective raigned Thursday morning by District Judge Donna Butler and was sent to Lehigh County Jail under $15,000 bail.
An Emmaus police detective obtained a search warrant Wednesday related to burglary and theft offenses, according to court records.
Members of the county’s municipal emergency response team served the warrant at 5:55 p.m. While the home was being searched, a police sergeant saw someone toss an item from a second-floor window and the suspected it was meth, court records show.
Police could see meth and drug paraphernalia on a dresser in Gross’ second-floor bedroom, court records show.
The detective obtained a second search warrant to check the room and found two bags containing meth, two straws with white residue, two glass smoking pipes and a rolled up bill with residue on it, police said.
Police also found a digital scale and packaging material.
It is unclear if anyone else is being charged in the investigation.
“We have a few people in custody,” an officer said after stepping out of the multifamily dwelling to talk briefly with news reporters.
Declining to be identified as she stood talking on her phone outside her front door, a neighbor described seeing multiple armed law enforcement personnel in camouflage arrive at the residence. She said police had been there previously.
