Irene (Altemose) Hartman
Irene “Reenie” (Altemose) Hartman, 76, of York, PA, died on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years William R. Hartman, her beloved sons Robert M. Hartman and James A. Hartman, and her loyal brother William C. Altemose and his wife, Jean, her cherished lifelong friend.
Reenie was born on January 7th, 1943 in Bethlehem, PA, to the late Charles and Margaret (Elek) Altemose. She graduated from Liberty High School and earned her nursing degree from Northampton Community College as well as her RN designation. She served as a phlebotomist, floor nurse, and medical audit analyst for Lehigh Valley hospitals until she dedicated her life completely to her family.
Reenie enjoyed participating in her bible study groups and book clubs, and loved spending time with her close friends. She was always curious and loved to read and learn about history, specifically WWII. An enthusiastic and knowledgeable sports fan, she loved her Orioles, Marlins, Bengals, Boilermakers, Wildcats, Nittany Lions, and Blues. She radiated genuine warmth, compassion, loyalty, and deep affection for all living creatures, especially her cats Cica, Margy, Magic, Sparky, Simba, Jolie, and Muffy (not all at once).
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem. The family will receive guests on Monday, March 4th, 2019, at Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 514 3rd Ave. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 10-11 a.m. A service will immediately follow in the chapel, where Bill and Reenie were married on Christmas Eve in 1975.
