ACBL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JUSTIN GUIDOS, ALLENTOWN
Allentown Railers manager Dylan Dando has known Justin Guidos for almost as long as Guidos has been playing baseball.
Dando said the Quakertown High product has always been a fierce competitor, and that quality is serving Guidos well in his role as the Allentown closer.
“He’s not afraid of any moment, any situation or any hitter, and he’s been that way his entire life,” Dando said. “That’s the mentality you need to pitch at the back end of games. He can pitch in any role.
“He can start, he can relieve. His stuff is good enough for any role. He’s going to pitch a lot of important innings for us this season.”
Guidos, who is coming off a solid sophomore season at East Stroudsburg University that featured a 3-2 record, with a 3.18 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 39 innings, has made his mark through the first month of the ACBL season in his first year with the Railers.
He has made six appearances, worked seven innings and given up just three hits while recording five strikeouts. He has yet to give up a run.
In a win over the Ocean Ospreys on Saturday, Guidos recorded four outs on five pitches.
