Don’t punish animal lovers for feeding stray cats
What is this world coming to, that a 79-year-old grandmother can’t feed hungry stray cats? (The Morning Call, July 31, “An Ohio grandmother faces jail for feeding stray cats.”) A month ago I gave a homeless person $5; is there a law for me, to put me in jail or fine me?
There are animal lovers who are caring people. Leave them alone.
And yes, I am an animal lover who would do the same thing, feed any stray cat or dog. And give to people in need.

Hellertown pool and its staff offer, and has been offering, free-of-charge swim lessons (open to everyone) for the last eight years.
There are four ability/aged groups that are instructed by our knowledgeable staff of certified lifeguards providing instruction. While we provide four opportunities per summer, there are still two remaining opportunities this season: Saturday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 17. Sessions run from 10:30-11:30 a.m., so please arrive by 10:15 a.m. to have your child acclimate to the water.
We have also taught dozens of adults water safety and how to swim, so please don’t be shy. Look forward to seeing you there.

He is responsible for what has happened, by his fanning the flames of racism. And at his continuing rallies and on social media, he continues to unleash so much hatred into our society, giving evil an opportunity to thrive.
As president, Trump’s words have dire consequences. Let’s hope Trump has finally learned that his words can result in these kinds of tragedies.
I’m not holding my breath.

reasoned and practical limits on gun rights to help stem the painful reality of gun violence. Universal background checks, registration of all guns and gun owners, limits on the kinds of weapons people can legally purchase as well ammunition clips, etc. are what most people know and believe will help.
Yet officials fail to act, and so do we. I am so tired of this and, personally, I commit that gun violence is among the many important issues upon which I will cast my next vote.
