- BY MANUEL GAMIZ JR.

A 56-year-old man intentionally rammed two parked vehicles in the parking lot of a Monroe County pizza shop on Sunday night and then fired shots at two men, according to Stroud Area Regional police.

Ronald Strunk Jr., of Stroud Township, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault, two counts each of simple assault and reckless endangerment and one count of resisting arrest. He was arraigned by District Judge Daniel Higgins and was sent to Monroe County Correctional Facility under $5,000 bail.

Police officers were dispatched at 7:45 p.m. Sunday to Paradise Trail in Stroud Township on a report of a man ramming into vehicles with his truck and then firing a gun at two men, police said.

Two men told police that they were leaving Coppola’s Pizzeria when they saw a man, later identified as Strunk, intentionally crash into two parked vehicles with his truck.

The two men exchanged words and gestures with Strunk, who then pulled out a gun and fired a shot toward the men, hitting a retaining wall, police said.

The men fled and called 911. Strunk also fled the area, but while police were at the scene, they heard branches breaking in the woods and then saw Strunk’s truck stuck in the wooded area behind the pizza shop.

Police ordered Strunk to get out of his truck, but he refused. After a brief standoff, Strunk got out and climbed onto the roof of the truck, police said.

He eventually complied to get on the ground, and struggled with police before being taken into custody. Police recovered a gun from the roof of Strunk’s truck.

No one was injured, police said.

Stroud Area Regional police were assisted by state police and Pocono Township police.
