A 17-year-old girl arranged to have someone shoot at her ex-boyfriend and his friends in June behind an elementary school in Emmaus, according to court records.

No one was struck by the June 12 gunfire behind Jefferson Elementary School in the 500 block of North Street, police said. Police said the victims were in a car when someone opened fire, one of the bullets going through the rear driver’s-side door window and through the driver’s head rest.

The shooting prompted Jefferson Elementary School to post an alert about the gunfire on its website the following day.

Elisa A. Torres, who turns 18 Friday, was charged as an adult with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and aggravated assault. Torres, of Hanover Township, Northampon County, was arraigned by District Judge Rod Beck and was sent to Lehigh County Jail under $100,000 bail.

According to a criminal complaint:

The victims told police that Torres and one of her female friends met with her exboyfriend and two of his friends behind the elementary school at 10:48 p.m. June 12. During the meeting, Torres and her ex-boyfriend started to argue.

Torres cursed at him and drove off, but returned and tried to get her ex-boyfriend to get out of his car. The exboyfriend stayed in his car, along with his two friends.

At some point, another car — only described as a white car — showed up and two men in hooded sweatshirts got out and started shooting at the victims in the car.

A second victim told police that he heard Torres tell her ex-boyfriend, “I got people coming to get you.” That victim said he saw Torres meeting with the people in the white car just before the shooting.

That victim said he saw a red beam pointed at him and was in the back seat of the car when shots were fired. The third victim was seated in the passenger seat, where police found a bullet in the seat belt post.

Police located six 9 mm shell casings at the scene. Police also reviewed surveillance footage that showed Torres fleeing the scene in a red car followed by the alleged shooters in the white car. They both fled westbound on North Street.

Police have not arrested anyone else in the shooting.
