Repaving on Cedar Crest Boulevard starts Monday

The Morning Call - - LOCAL NEWS - — Tom Shortell

PennDOT will begin repaving 3.5 miles of Cedar Crest Boulevard next week, kicking off three months of construction along the state route.

Starting Monday night, construction crews will begin working between Walbert Avenue and Interstate 78. Construction will typically run from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., PennDOT spokesman Ron Young Jr. said. The project calls for milling and repaving the road, building curb cutout ramps and new pavement markings.

“PennDOT is committed to ensuring a smoother ride for motorists and improving accessibility for persons with disabilities, and this project will accomplish both along this busy corridor,” Gov. Tom Wolf said in a statement.

The nighttime construction will lead to lane restrictions. Motorists should plan on giving themselves extra time to drive through the construction zone, Young said.

The $2.5 million project is expected to last until November.
