- By John J. Moser

“The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical,” a stage presentation that tells the story of a “scout elf ” who watches for Santa Claus to determine who is bad and good, has been added to the new season of Easton’s State Theatre.

The show was announced just as tickets for State’s 93rd season go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Thursday.

“The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical” will be performed at 6 p.m. Nov. 14.

Tickets to the show, at $29.95$59.95, are on sale now at the theater box office at 453 Northampton St., Easton, by calling 800-999-STATE or at www.statetheatre.org. The show is presented by an outside vendor, so State Theatre member benefits do not apply.

“The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Musical” tells the story of Tater Tot, a friendly Elf on the Shelf who speaks directly to the audience. When Tater Tot, the top scout elf in his graduating class, is sent to a disconnected, multigenerational family that struggles to rediscover Christmas spirit, he’s got to find a way off the shelf and into their hearts.

Tickets go on sale Thursday for the rest of the 42-performance season, which includes eight Broadway shows, the 25th anniversary of Riverdance, comedian Harrison Greenbaum of “Last Comic Standing” and “America’s Got Talent” and The Ten Tenors with Jackie Evancho.

Other highlights for the upcoming season are Discovery Channel host Josh Gates and improvisational comedians Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood.

Tickets already are on sale for top a cappella group Straight No Chaser, comedian T.J. Miller, Cirque Dreams: Holidaze, Oh What a Night of Rock N Roll, Kreeps with Kids comedy troupe and “Beautiful, The Carole King Musical.”

The new season opens at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 with the return of The Piano Guys, the duo of pianist and songwriter Jon Schmidt and cellist and songwriter Steven Sharp Nelson, who deliver compositions that transcend boundaries of style and genre. Tickets are $79-$95.
