Coopersburg couple buys what was town’s original post office to open boutique fitness studio
Brielle and Matt Baker have purchased what was the original post office in the borough and plan to convert it to a boutique fitness studio, which they will open early next year. The 3,200-square-foot brick building at 551 E. Station Ave. had been a pediatric therapy office and a sign/decal/trophy company. Jeff Barber of Lehigh Financial Group LLC arranged the financing for the sale which closed July 9. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The Bakers plan to convert the space to The Refinery Fitness, where they will offer high intensity workout classes seven days a week. “Our official schedule of classes is to be determined but we plan to offer multiple classes throughout the day – early morning, afternoon and one or two during the evening,” said Brielle Baker, who like her husband, grew up playing multiple sports and found group exercise to be the most motivating and exhilarating. “We won’t offer memberships, but class passes, where people can buy packages of five, 10 or 20 classes,” she said. Classes will be either 45 minutes or up to 60 minutes and taught by certified trainers.
The Bakers are hoping to complete renovations by the end of the year or earlier and have a grand opening in early January.
