Bring along the family to see Disney’s ‘Planes’ at the Airpark

Gather the kiddos and head out for a unique night of fun with Movie at the Airport, presented by The LehighNort­hampton Airport Authority, on Saturday at Braden Airpark, 3800 Sullivan Trail, Easton, however the parking entrance is located off Uhler Road.

The chosen movie for the evening is fittingly, Disney’s “Planes,” and it will begin at 8:30 p.m. with a fireworks finale immediate following the movie. The event is free to the public.

Before the movie starts, members of the Experiment­al Aircraft Associatio­n Chapter 70, based at Braden, will offer free plane rides to children ages 8-17. The group is made up of mostly small, single-engine planes owned by local hobbyist who enjoy flying. The free flights run from 4:15-7:15 p.m.

“Introducin­g aviation to a younger audience might spark an interest in learning to fly and setting them on a future career where the sky is the limit. Right in their own backyard, a rejuvenate­d Braden Airpark is the perfect place for that dream to takeoff,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, LNAA.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Bring a blanket or comfortabl­e chairs to create your perfect viewing space on the airfield, and The Lehigh-Northampto­n Airport Authority, which runs Braden will provide the rest. There will be food trucks, face painting and bounce houses for children, music, and mascot appearance­s. No pets, coolers or outside food or beverages are allowed.

The authority will collect donations for the Children’s Home of Easton, a nonprofit that offers therapeuti­c programs for troubled youth from dysfunctio­nal families.

A note for pilots: Any pilot joining the event by flying to Braden Airpark must land before the runway closes at 7:30 p.m. Departures are prohibited until the conclusion of the movie.
