Record-setting rock band The Killers to return to Wind Creek Event Center
A rock band whose five studio albums have collectively sold 6 million copies and all hit the Top 10 — with the most recent hitting No. 1 — and celebrated the second anniversary of Wind Creek Event Center in 2014, will return, it was announced Friday.
The Killers, who have been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, will play the event center at 8 p.m. Sept. 19.
Tickets, at $95 and $135, go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the event center box office, at www.windcreekeventcenter.com and at 800-745-3000.
The Killers sold out its May 2014 performance at the center, then known as Sands Bethlehem Event Center, in just 90 minutes, setting what was then a record-fast sellout for the facility. Officials at the time said the show was the biggest attraction in its history.
That record since was broken by singer Britney Spears’ concert at the venue in 2018, which sold out in just seconds.
The Killers have sold out facilities such as New York’s Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn’s 16,000-capacity Barclays Center and Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center, with a capacity of 25,000, and played England’s Wembley Stadium, which with 90,000 seats is Europe’s second largest stadium.
By comparison, capacity for a standing show at the event center is 3,750.
In a decade together, The Killers have had eight Top 10 singles on Billboard charts, including the triple-platinum “Mr. Brightside” in 2003 and the chart-topping “When You Were Young” in 2006. A 2009 live album, “Live from the Royal Albert Hall,” also went platinum.
Its latest album, “Battle Born,” released in 2012, peaked at No. 3. A compilation disc, “Direct Hits,” was released in November.
The group has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards and in 2005 won the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist.
In its 18 years together, The Killers has had more than a dozen Top 20 singles on Billboard charts, including its debut single, the triple-platinum “Mr. Brightside” in 2003, the triple-platinum “Somebody Told Me” in 2004 and the platinum “All These Things That I’ve Done,” all from its triple-platinum 2004 debut album “Hot Fuss”.
It also has had the charttopping “When You Were Young” in 2006 and “Human” in 2008.
Its sophomore album, 2006’s “Sam’s Town,” also went platinum, as did it 2009 live album, “Live from the Royal Albert Hall.”
Its latest album, 2017’s “Wonderful Wonderful,” was its first to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s overall Albums chart, and had the Top 5 Alternative chart hits “The Man” and “Run for Cover.”
Its most recent single, “Land of the Free,” was released this year from an upcoming new album.
The group has been nominated for seven Grammy Awards — five of them for its debut album, including Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song for “Somebody Told Me.”
