Woman shot in leg in Allentown turns up in Catasauqua
A woman approached police in Catasauqua after she was shot in the leg in Allentown on Sunday night.
There was a report of shots fired in Allentown at Ridge Avenue and Oak Street at 8:18 p.m., said Allentown police Capt. Michael Becker. A woman then drove up to police on 12th and Race streets in Catasauqua with a gunshot wound in her leg, Becker said.
She’s expected to survive, he said. The incident was still under investigation Sunday night. Authorities shut down Race Street around the area.
The woman is Allentown’s 29th shooting victim since June 1.
The shooting came after about 250 people gathered Allentown’s Stevens Park on Sunday for a #StoptheViolence Block Party, a way to show community unity in the face of a violent summer.
