Woman shot in leg in Al­len­town turns up in Catasauqua

A woman ap­proached po­lice in Catasauqua af­ter she was shot in the leg in Al­len­town on Sun­day night.

There was a re­port of shots fired in Al­len­town at Ridge Av­enue and Oak Street at 8:18 p.m., said Al­len­town po­lice Capt. Michael Becker. A woman then drove up to po­lice on 12th and Race streets in Catasauqua with a gun­shot wound in her leg, Becker said.

She’s ex­pected to sur­vive, he said. The in­ci­dent was still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion Sun­day night. Au­thor­i­ties shut down Race Street around the area.

The woman is Al­len­town’s 29th shoot­ing vic­tim since June 1.

The shoot­ing came af­ter about 250 peo­ple gathered Al­len­town’s Stevens Park on Sun­day for a #StoptheVi­o­lence Block Party, a way to show com­mu­nity unity in the face of a vi­o­lent sum­mer.
