So much hap­pen­ing at the Le­high Val­ley Zoo

The Le­high Val­ley Zoo has quite a few things to of­fer for fam­i­lies, start­ing Thurs­day night, Aug. 22. From 5:30 to 9 p.m., the zoo is hos­ing its first “Zoocous­tic Night.” En­joy the Val­ley’s most un­usual mu­sic venue, fea­tur­ing acous­tic mu­sic from lo­cal artists in­clud­ing Kyle Baker, Erin Kelly & Gui­tarist, Steel Creek Trio, Stacy Ga­bel, An­drew Mark Schaf­fer, Zac Law­less, Seth Witcher, and Ken­dal Con­rad. Ex­pe­ri­ence the zoo af­ter hours, when the an­i­mals are most ac­tive and en­joy­ing din­ner meals. Ex­plore the zoo, check out the per­for­mance, en­joy a va­ri­ety of beer, wine, seltzers and ciders. Blan­kets, lawn chairs and pic­nics are wel­come. Food and bev­er­ages avail­able for pur­chase. Tick­ets are $22; $18, members; $14, child; $10, mem­ber child (on­line, Aug. 12-18); $30; $18, members; $10 mem­ber child (at gate.)

On Saturday from 12:30-2:30 p.m., come out for an exclusive lun­cheon for “Pizza with the Keep­ers.” The lun­cheon will be held in the lower event tent and will fea­ture members of An­i­mal Care, Con­ser­va­tion Ed­u­ca­tion and Ve­teri­nary depart­ments. This is an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to in­ter­act with the zoo staff and ex­plore more about var­i­ous career paths, while en­joy­ing some de­li­cious pizza. Tick­ets: $35; $25, chil­dren; $20, members; $10, members child.

Fi­nally the last spe­cial event of the week­end is “Fairy Tale Day” on Sun­day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Clas­sic sto­ry­book char­ac­ters will be com­ing to life. There will be pho­tos, sing-a-longs, and meet-and-greets with Snow White (10 a.m.), Cin­derella (noon), and Aurora (2 p.m.) courtesy of Joanna Ber­ta­lan of Pro­fes­sional Singing Princess!

There will also be an­i­mal min­gles 11-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2 p.m,. Be sure to stop by daily keeper chats to learn about the nat­u­ral be­hav­iors of an­i­mals op­posed to how they are of­ten por­trayed in fairy tales!
