So much happening at the Lehigh Valley Zoo
The Lehigh Valley Zoo has quite a few things to offer for families, starting Thursday night, Aug. 22. From 5:30 to 9 p.m., the zoo is hosing its first “Zoocoustic Night.” Enjoy the Valley’s most unusual music venue, featuring acoustic music from local artists including Kyle Baker, Erin Kelly & Guitarist, Steel Creek Trio, Stacy Gabel, Andrew Mark Schaffer, Zac Lawless, Seth Witcher, and Kendal Conrad. Experience the zoo after hours, when the animals are most active and enjoying dinner meals. Explore the zoo, check out the performance, enjoy a variety of beer, wine, seltzers and ciders. Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics are welcome. Food and beverages available for purchase. Tickets are $22; $18, members; $14, child; $10, member child (online, Aug. 12-18); $30; $18, members; $10 member child (at gate.)
On Saturday from 12:30-2:30 p.m., come out for an exclusive luncheon for “Pizza with the Keepers.” The luncheon will be held in the lower event tent and will feature members of Animal Care, Conservation Education and Veterinary departments. This is an excellent opportunity to interact with the zoo staff and explore more about various career paths, while enjoying some delicious pizza. Tickets: $35; $25, children; $20, members; $10, members child.
Finally the last special event of the weekend is “Fairy Tale Day” on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classic storybook characters will be coming to life. There will be photos, sing-a-longs, and meet-and-greets with Snow White (10 a.m.), Cinderella (noon), and Aurora (2 p.m.) courtesy of Joanna Bertalan of Professional Singing Princess!
There will also be animal mingles 11-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2 p.m,. Be sure to stop by daily keeper chats to learn about the natural behaviors of animals opposed to how they are often portrayed in fairy tales!
