Man dies in crash on Route 100
A Montgomery County man died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Lowhill Township.
Derek Brobst, 31, of Schwenksville, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest following the 3:16 p.m. crash at Route 100 and Bittners Corner Road.
Brobst was a passenger in a car driven by Ashley Whiteman, 25, of Palmerton. Whiteman was heading south and swerved into the northbound lane, state police reported, colliding head-on with a northbound Jeep driven by Emily Hummel, 37, of New Tripoli.
Whiteman was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Brobst, an infant boy in Whiteman’s vehicle and Hummel were taken by ambulance to the same hospital.
Route 100 was closed for several hours after the crash.
