Man dies in crash on Route 100

A Mont­gomery County man died of in­juries suf­fered in a two-ve­hi­cle crash Tues­day in Lowhill Town­ship.

Derek Brobst, 31, of Sch­wenksville, was pro­nounced dead at Le­high Val­ley Hospi­tal-Cedar Crest fol­low­ing the 3:16 p.m. crash at Route 100 and Bit­tners Cor­ner Road.

Brobst was a pas­sen­ger in a car driven by Ash­ley White­man, 25, of Palmer­ton. White­man was head­ing south and swerved into the north­bound lane, state po­lice re­ported, col­lid­ing head-on with a north­bound Jeep driven by Emily Hum­mel, 37, of New Tripoli.

White­man was flown to Le­high Val­ley Hospi­tal-Cedar Crest. Brobst, an infant boy in White­man’s ve­hi­cle and Hum­mel were taken by am­bu­lance to the same hospi­tal.

Route 100 was closed for sev­eral hours af­ter the crash.
