Parkland faces big challenge from Freedom
Here’s a breakdown of EPC South football for Week 3, when Freedom and Parkland will meet with a chance to stake their claim as the division favorite. Things to know
Parkland will be without at least two of its five senior captains for Friday’s showdown against Freedom. Left tackle Nick Dawkins is out for a second straight game, while wide receiver/defensive back Luke Dauberman remains sidelined with an injury suffered during the preseason. The Trojans expect tight enddefensive end Ja-lon Perkins to return after missing last week’s game against Central Catholic. Linebacker Dante Medlar’s status is up in the air; he left the Central Catholic game with an injury.
Junior running back Nahjee Adams has more than doubled his rushing total from last season while boosting his efficiency as Easton’s lead option. He gashed Pocono Mountain West and Whitehall for 520 yards on just 40 attempts. Adams ran for 240 yards on 36 attempts as a reserve last season.
Player to watch
Nathan Stefanik, Nazareth: The senior safety has wreaked havoc on opposing passing attacks, intercepting five passes and returning two for touchdowns.
Week 3 matchups
Freedom at Parkland: Freedom quarterback Jared Jenkins and wide receiver Gabe Caton have already connected for two 50-plus-yard touchdown passes this season. Parkland needs to limit the Patriots’ explosive passing plays by forcing Jenkins into quick throws.
Central Catholic at Nazareth: Central Catholic tackled well while holding its first two opponents, Stroudsburg and Parkland, to 21 total points. The Vikings need to stay disciplined when pressuring Nazareth quarterback Anthony Harris to prevent him from extending plays with his legs.
Bethlehem Catholic at Liberty: Liberty took advantage of starting its season with two games against EPC North teams, beating Pleasant Valley and Pocono Mountain East by a combined 90-0 margin.
