Po­lice say teens stole ve­hi­cle with stolen gun in it

A 17-year-old boy was ar­rested Thurs­day af­ter he and three other ju­ve­niles led Foun­tain Hill po­lice on a chase in a stolen ve­hi­cle with a stolen gun in it, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

The ve­hi­cle was re­ported stolen from the 1300 block of Jeter Av­enue early Thurs­day morn­ing. Sev­eral hours later, po­lice spot­ted and tried stop­ping the ve­hi­cle in the 1200 block of Delaware Av­enue.

The 17-year-old driver sped off into Beth­le­hem, stop­ping at Chero­kee and Dako­tah streets, then run­ning off with the three other ju­ve­niles, po­lice said. The four were caught in the 400 block of Pawnee Street.

In the ve­hi­cle was a loaded hand­gun with an al­tered se­rial num­ber, be­lieved to have been stolen in a night­time crime spree in the bor­ough ear­lier in the week, po­lice said.

The driver was charged with theft, re­ceiv­ing stolen prop­erty, flee­ing/elud­ing po­lice and re­lated traf­fic of­fenses. He was taken to Le­high County Jail to await his pre­lim­i­nary ar­raign­ment.

The other three ju­ve­niles were re­leased with crim­i­nal charges pend­ing against them, po­lice said.
