Two men shot early Sunday in downtown Allentown, police say
Two men were shot early Sunday near the Allentown Bus Terminal at Hamilton and Race streets in downtown Allentown, police said.
Allentown police were called to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Allentown, 17th and Chew streets, at 5:20 a.m. after two male gunshot victims were transported there by private vehicle, police Capt. James Keiser said.
Police believe the two men were shot around 5 a.m. in the first block of North Race Street, near Hamilton Street and American Parkway, Keiser said.
Both men were in stable condition, Keiser said.
Allentown detectives continue to investigate the incident, and no one has been taken into custody.
No additional details about the men are available.
Police cleared the scene shortly after 8 a.m., a bus terminal employee said.
The men were the 32nd and 33rd known gunshot victims in the city since June 1, and the second and third this weekend.
A 28-year-old woman was shot late Friday in the 300 block of South Rush Street.
Sunday morning’s shooting occurred around the corner from where 10 people were shot leaving the Deja Vu nightclub June 20 and where one person was shot June 1 outside the Catch 22 night club.
