Fundraiser reflects selfless spirit of 9/11 victim

The Morning Call - - TOWN SQUARE -

The 18th annual Bill Sugra Memorial Outing was held Aug. 23 at Green Pond Country Club, Bethlehem Township, and our family would like to thank all of the many generous sponsors, volunteers and golfers.

Bill, our dear son, who is smiling down on us, gives us strength to go on. Sept. 11 was such a senseless and devastating tragedy. Although difficult, it is important to focus our energy from our sorrow and helplessness on the future. Our family chose to give Sept. 11 meaning by doing something good for others.

Because of the generosity of so many people in this community, the Bill Sugra Memorial Fund will distribute $71,800 in Bill’s memory by donating to more than three dozen community organizations. In 18 years, we have been able to grant a total of $813,602 to many worthwhile organizations and individuals in need.

We also continue a matching scholarship with Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where Bill went to college. There is a memorial to three students who graduated from IUP who were tragically killed at the World Trade Center.

Thank you for helping to continue Bill’s selfless spirit and making a difference in someone else’s life. Please visit our website (billsugramemorial to find out more. Bill and El Sugra Salisbury Township Steven and Tracy Sell Weisenberg Township
