There are valid reasons for media criticism of Trump

The Morning Call - - TOWN SQUARE -

Trump and his supporters moan that the media is constantly critical of him. There are a number of reasons why the media “picks” on him. One is that he constantly lies or gives misleading information. According to the Washington Post, he has told over 12,000 lies since his inauguration.

His fans say in his defense that all politicians lie. But can anyone remember any past president who lies at the rate that he does? Also he has little knowledge of recent history, economics or science, among other subjects.

Then there is the vitriol that he is constantly dishing out. And then he complains that others are “nasty” when they criticize him.

There is also the environment. He has appointed people from the fossil fuel industry who are intent on ruining our air and waterways. Many career scientists have taken early retirement rather than continue to serve.

Isn’t it the media’s job to hold the president’s feet to the fire and inform the public when he is dishing out inaccurate or false information? Paul Jayson Palmer Township
