The skinny: It’s Lehigh’s first trip to California since a game against St. Mary’s in 1998. It’s also the Mountain Hawks first meeting with UC Davis since the national championship run in 1977. It’s more than a trip down memory lane however. It’s an opportunity for the team to bond over a stretch of several days. Most importantly, it’s a chance for the program to test itself against one of the best teams in the country and gain some name recognition. With a bye week coming, a solid performance and competitive game would provide a boost. There have been some positive signs in most areas, but a ground game averaging just 1.9 yards per carry is the biggest concern. It may be tough to gain traction on the ground against the Aggies, considering the OL will feature two sophomores and a freshman. Keith Groller’s prediction: UC Davis 34, Lehigh 14.
