Attempted armed robbery alleged
A New York man was arrested Saturday afternoon in Allentown after an attempted armed robbery on the 500 block of North Mohr Street, police said.
Andrew Birch-Julbe, 26, of the Bronx was sent to Lehigh County Jail under $100,000 bail on charges that include attempted robbery, firearms offenses and trespass, according to court records.
Police said they were called at 1:10 p.m. to the street, where a man reported he was approached by a man with a gun. Officers discovered Birch-Julbe hiding in the area and he fled, ditching the loaded handgun as he ran away, police said.
Police said they took BirchJulbe into custody without incident at a nearby home on the 500 block of North Penn Street.
