Fire at CVS draws 6 companies

The Morning Call - - STATE / REGION - — Kayla Dwyer

Crews from six fire departments responded to a CVS store in South Whitehall Township early Monday morning for a fire, officials say.

Three township volunteer fire companies Greenawalds, Cetronia and Woodlawn were called to the store on the 3000 block of Tilghman Street, near Cedar Crest Boulevard, at 2:45 a.m. for a fire in progress, according to a Facebook post by the Greenawalds department. Crews from Catasauqua, Alburtis and Western Salisbury Township also responded.

Cetronia fire officials described the fire as a “large outside fire that extended into the roof area” in a Facebook post Monday afternoon.

The bulk of the fire was in the back of the building, according to the Greenawalds department. Crews remained on scene until about 5 a.m.

Pictures of the fire’s aftermath show some damage to a rear storage section, but the extent of damage is unclear.

The store remained closed as of Monday afternoon. It is unclear how long the closure will last as crews make repairs.
