Free nalox­one avail­able Wed­nes­day

The life­sav­ing, over­dose-re­ver­sal med­i­ca­tion nalox­one will be avail­able free at al­most 90 lo­ca­tions across the state on Wed­nes­day and Sept. 25.

The ini­tia­tive is part of the state’s sec­ond Stop Over­doses in PA: Get Help Now Week, Gov. Tom Wolf an­nounced Mon­day. Distri­bu­tions will pri­mar­ily take place at state health cen­ters and county/mu­nic­i­pal health de­part­ments from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., as sup­plies last.

In Le­high County, kits can be picked up at the Le­high County State Health Cen­ter, 3730 Le­high St., White­hall and the Al­len­town Health Bureau, 245 N. Sixth Street. In Northamp­ton County, kits can be picked up at the Northamp­ton County State Health Cen­ter, 1600 Northamp­ton St., Eas­ton and the Beth­le­hem Health Bureau, 10 E. Church St.

Sec­re­tary of Health Rachel Levine said some lo­ca­tions are op­er­at­ing at dif­fer­ent hours so she ad­vised res­i­dents to visit the Depart­ment of Health’s web­site for more de­tails.
