Monster Jam coming to PPL Center on Feb. 21-23
The Monster Jam truck show, which has been popular with yearly shows at Allentown’s PPL Center, will return for five shows in February, it has been announced.
The event, which features trucks 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide, sitting atop 66-inch tires and weighing at least 10,000 pounds, will have sessions at 7 p.m. Feb. 21; 1 and 7 p.m. Feb. 22; and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23.
Tickets, at $15-$87, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at www.PPLCenter.com, the center box office or 610-347-TIXX. A venue presale will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until 11:59 p.m. Monday using the code PPLPRE.
Group sales with discounts also are available at 484-2734551.
Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, the trucks can get up to 100 mph and fly up to 125 to 130 feet — a distance greater than 14 cars side by side — and 35 feet in the air.
The trucks, which are extremely loud, race in traditional style, in which the first truck to cross the finish line with the least number of penalties wins. In freestyle, the trucks drive over cars, and do stunts and tricks.
The Monster Jam tour ends each year in March with the world finals, meaning the Allentown stop will be late in the 2019-20 season.
Monster Jam truck show most recently was at PPL Center last February, in February 2018, in March 2017 and in April 2016.
The Monster Jam truck show will return to Allentown for 5 shows.
