Andretti prepares for final IndyCar event of season
Nazareth’s Marco Andretti heads into the final IndyCar event of the season — at the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at Laguna Seca (3:15 pm Sunday) — in 16th place out of 36 drivers in the championship points standings.
Andretti’s top finish this season was seventh at Road American mid-season.
“The end of our season has been much stronger than the results have shown and heading into the season finale, a doublepoints race, it’s really important to myself and the U.S. Concrete team to end 2019 on a high note,” said Andretti, who drives the No. 98 U.S. Concrete car for Andretti Herta Autosport, in a release from the league.
“We had a decent test at Laguna Seca earlier in the year and the track holds a lot of my family history. It’s an iconic venue and it’s one of [Bryan] Herta’s best tracks from his career, so I have the right guy in my corner this weekend.”
Another Nazareth native, Sage Karam, is in 27th in the league standings.
Andretti team members Alexander Rossi and Ryan HunterReay are in second and seventh in the standings.
