Pocono Mountain Regional police say they arrested a man Thursday in a Monroe County home where they allegedly found a large amount of marijuana, cocaine, a gun and more than $63,000.

Juan Rosario, 41, was arrested at a home in the 2300 block of Melody Lane, police say. Rosario was wanted in New York City on a felony burglary charge and police said they received information he was “hiding out” at the home in Tobyhanna, Coolbaugh Township.

As officers surrounded the home, they said, Rosario refused to surrender and a young child inside was escorted to safety.

Police said their K9 dog Creed found Rosario hiding in a crawl space. Rosario was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for injuries he suffered during the arrest.

In addition to the cash and “bulk amounts” of marijuana and cocaine, police said the K9 also found a hidden weapon.

Rosario was charged with flight to avoid arrest, possession with the intent to deliver drugs, criminal use of a cellphone, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence and illegally having a firearm. He was sent to Monroe County jail and was denied bail due to being a flight risk, police said.

A woman in the home identified by police as Arbelin Herrera, 42, was charged with hindering apprehension, obstructing police, possession of an instrument of crime, endangering the welfare of a child and felony drug charges. She is free after posting $50,000 bail, court records state.
