A 41-year-old man was charged with throwing glass plates out of a ninth-floor window onto a crowd in the dining area outside Queen City BBQ in Allentown early Sunday, according to court records.

Robert W. Wolters, with no current address, was charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, propulsion of missiles and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned by District Judge Michael Faulkner and was sent to Lehigh County Jail under $15,000 bail.

Allentown police were called at 1:01 a.m. Sunday to Queen City BBQ, at 27 N. Seventh St., on a report of someone throwing glass plates from a ninth-story window onto diners outside the restaurant, which is part of the city’s ArtsWalk.

Police found shattered glass on the ArtsWalk, where a crowd had been gathered as part of a wedding after-party. No one was injured.

One witness told police the glass plates were tossed from a nearby apartment building and showed police a video of where the plates came from, court records say.

Police went to the apartment and spoke to the tenant along with his stepson, Wolters.

Police told them what had happened, and the tenant gave police permission to check if his dinnerware matched the items that were thrown out the window. Police found no plates in the kitchen cabinets, police said.

The tenant also checked his kitchen for plates. After looking in the cabinets, he said, “Where are the plates? The plates are gone,” court records say.

Police showed the tenant pieces of the broken plates, and he confirmed that they were his plates.

Wolters was then taken into custody and charged.
