The Morning Call - - LOCAL/STATE -

Bethlehem Township police surrounded a home Sunday night in the 2500 block of 10th Street for about five hours following reports of a barricaded man with a handgun.

Police responded shortly after 8 p.m. to the 10th Street scene between Brader and Judith streets, a Northampton County dispatch official confirmed. Neighbors were advised to remain inside, away from windows. Everyone else was told to avoid the area.

State police’s Special Emergency Response Team was also called to the scene to negotiate with the man. Police took him into custody shortly after 1 a.m. and lifted the shelter-in-place order, according to a public alert issued by Bethlehem Township.

Police did not believe there was anyone else in the home, a dispatch official said.
