Live the­ater show based on film ‘Trolls’ com­ing to PPL Cen­ter

A stage show based on the pop­u­lar com­puter-an­i­mated movie “Trolls” is com­ing to Al­len­town’s PPL Cen­ter, it was an­nounced Mon­day.

“Trolls LIVE!,” the first live tour of the movie’s char­ac­ters Princess Poppy, Branch and others, will have four per­for­mances — at 6 p.m. April 10; 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. April 11; and 2:30 p.m. April 12.

Tick­ets, at $21-$110 VIP, go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 at the box of­fice at 701 Hamil­ton St., Al­len­town, at www.PPLCen­ and at 610-347-TIXX.

The show will be pre­sented in a the­ater set­ting, with the stage on one end of the PPL Cen­ter’s floor, with lim­ited floor seat­ing and a the­ater-size seat­ing area in the el­e­vated sec­tions.

The DreamWorks film “Trolls,” re­leased in 2016 with char­ac­ters voiced by Anna Ken­drick and Justin Tim­ber­lake, grossed nearly $350 mil­lion at the box of­fice and was nom­i­nated for an Academy Award for Best Orig­i­nal Song for Tim­ber­lake’s “Can’t Stop the Feel­ing!”

That song won a Grammy Award for Best Song for Visual Me­dia, and also was nom­i­nated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Orig­i­nal Song, and the movie for an Amer­i­can Mu­sic Award for Best Sound­track.

A 26-episode an­i­mated se­ries based on the film, “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” airs on Net­flix.

A se­quel to the movie, “Trolls World Tour,” is sched­uled to be re­leased April 17 — a week af­ter the the­ater show hits PPL Cen­ter.

Pub­lic­ity for the stage show says it is filled with “mu­sic, glit­ter, hu­mor and hap­pi­ness.”

The story has Poppy, Branch and their Trolls friends Cooper, Cloud Guy, Satin and Che­nille, Smidge, Guy Di­a­mond, Fuzzbert, Big­gie and Mr. Din­kles have their Hug Time un­ex­pect­edly put at risk, and the Trolls seek to save it.

The world of the Trolls comes alive in the show, which is in­ter­ac­tive and uses scenic pro­jec­tion, pup­petry, me­dia tech­nol­ogy and sur­prise spe­cial ef­fects. It will be pre­sented in two acts with an in­ter­mis­sion.


“Trolls LIVE!” is com­ing for four per­for­mances in April to Al­len­town’s PPL Cen­ter.
