Peak performers at half

Half of the Colonial League regular season is over and Southern Lehigh is on a path to win the final league championsh­ip. That path is on the ground where the Spartans are averaging 331.2 rushing yards per game.

Notre Dame is the top offense in the league at 421.2 yards and goes to the air more successful­ly than any other league member with 240.8 yards passing per game despite losing its starting quarterbac­k.

Here’s a look at the Colonial League individual leaders with the spotlight on top performanc­es in Week 5.

Rushing leaders

Southern Lehigh ran for 350 yards in a 35-6 win over Palisades with Asher Smith leading the way with 283 yards on 25 carries and and scored three touchdowns. Teammate Cam Fisher added four carries for 43 yards and two TDs.

In Northweste­rn Lehigh’s 41-13 rout of Bangor, Nick Henry ran for 94 yards and four TDs on 14 carries and quarterbac­k Deven Bollinger added 91 yards on 18 carries.

Notre Dame’s Matt Frauen had 128 yards on 17 carries and scored a TD in a 23-21 loss to Salisbury.

Passing leaders

In Salisbury’s win over Notre Dame, junior Quintin Stephens shook off five sacks, two interecept­ions and a fumble to complete 13 of 23 passes for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Pen Argyl had one of its best passing performanc­es of the season in a 28-21 win over Palmerton, completing seven of nine throws for 125 yards. Gavin Amerman completed three of five passes for 98 yards, including two TD passes to Collin McKeague. Connor Fehr was 4-for-4 for 27 yards and also ran for two touchdowns.

Receiving leaders

Salisbury’s Chad Parton continues to be one of the league’s top playmakers. He had nine catches for 144 yards and had TD receptions covering 41 and 64 yards against Notre Dame.

Northweste­rn’s Justin Rodda had six catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in his team’s win over Bangor.

The Slaters had six receptions for 61 yards and a score by Nick Davanzo and Nate Owens had five grabs for 87 yards and a touchdown. Devanzo has TD receptions in four of the five Bangor games.

Scoring leaders

Southern Lehigh has scored the most points in the league, 218, and has the most touchdowns with 31. No surprise that the league’s top scorer by kicking is Spartans junior Christian Colasurdo, who has 30 points with one field goal and 27 PATs.

Wilson’s Lorenzo Sigue has 21 points with 12 PATs on 14 tries and three field goals, all between 20 and 30 yards.
