Former hospital nurse charged with sexual assault
A former Lehigh Valley Hospital nurse was charged with sexually assaulting a woman at the hospital’s Muhlenberg campus in May, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced Thursday.
Robert Kohut, 54, of Pittston, Luzerne County, was a nurse anesthetist at the hospital’s Bethlehem location, but has since been fired by Lehigh Valley Health Network, Martin said. Martin said a woman contacted Bethlehem police on May 23 to report that she had been sexually assaulted on May 13.
An investigation by Bethlehem Sgt. Nicholas Lechman determined that a sexual assault did happen in a room at the hospital, Martin said.
Martin noted that the victim was not a patient.
Kohut was charged with one count each of sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, both second-degree felonies, and one count of indecent assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.
