Man threat­ened stu­dents on bridge with knife, po­lice say

A 38-year-old man was charged with threat­en­ing Dieruff High School stu­dents with a knife on the Til­gh­man Street Bridge on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, po­lice said.

Justin P. Har­tranft, with no cur­rent ad­dress, was ar­rested fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion by Allentown pa­trol of­fi­cers, school re­sources of­fi­cers and de­tec­tives with the youth di­vi­sion, po­lice Capt. Bill Lake said.

Po­lice were dis­patched Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon for a re­port of a man chas­ing high school stu­dents with a knife. Po­lice took him into cus­tody, Lake said.

Har­tranft is await­ing ar­raign­ment on charges of ter­ror­is­tic threats, sim­ple as­sault and ha­rass­ment.
