Gracedale re­ceives CMS three-star rat­ing

Northamp­ton County Ex­ec­u­tive La­m­ont McClure and the staff of Gracedale Nurs­ing Home re­ported that Gracedale re­ceived a three-star rat­ing from the Cen­ters for Medi­care and Med­i­caid Ser­vices. Pre­vi­ously, when it was un­der the ad­min­is­tra­tion of Pre­mier, Gracedale had been rated as two stars. Northamp­ton County re­as­sumed con­trol of the fa­cil­ity in Jan­uary 2019.

Gracedale is the largest county-owned nurs­ing home un­der one roof in the com­mon­wealth of Penn­syl­va­nia. It cur­rently serves 654 res­i­dents. Ac­cord­ing to cen­sus data, other nurs­ing homes in Penn­syl­va­nia only serve an av­er­age of 109.8 res­i­dents. The U.S. av­er­age is 86.1. Eight-seven per­cent of Gracedale’s res­i­dents are re­cip­i­ents of Med­i­caid and rep­re­sent 44% of the en­tire Med­i­caid nurs­ing home pop­u­la­tion in Northamp­ton County.
