The 8-year-old boy and 4year-old girl found unconscious Monday in a Berks County home have died, the Lehigh County Coroner’s office said Friday.

Connor Snyder and Brinley L. Snyder were pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley HospitalCedar Crest on Thursday, according to Daniel Buglio, first deputy coroner.

Authorities have not said how the children died. The cause and manner of their death is pending an autopsy, Buglio said.

Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said Friday afternoon that his office is conducting an ongoing, active investigation with the Pennsylvania State Police and there is no danger to the public.

“We are working diligently to find some answers to this very, very tragic incident,” Adams said.

On Friday afternoon, state police from the Hamburg barracks said in a news release that the children died from injuries sustained Monday, but gave no further details, such as how the children came to be unconscious, where their parents were or whether anyone will be charged.

The children were flown to the hospital Monday after being found unconscious at 4:37 p.m. in a home in the 2400 block of Route 143 in Albany Township, state police said.

Connor Snyder was a student of the Kutztown Area School District and attended Greenwich-Lenhartsville Elementary School.

“Our sympathy, concern and prayers are with those who have been impacted by this heartbreaking loss ... As a school community we are devastated by these tragic events,” said Kutztown Area School District Superintendent Christian Temchatin in a prepared statement Friday.

A support team of school counselors, psychologists and administrators from the district and the Berks County Intermediate Unit Flight Team were available to staff and students Friday and will be back at the school Monday offering counseling and support services.

In addition, assistance has been provided from the Berks County Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities program, school officials said.
