Berube solid in goal as Phan­toms down Pen­guins

The Le­high Val­ley Phan­toms got two-point per­for­mances from Andy An­dre­off and T.J. Bren­nan Sun­day af­ter­noon at PPL Cen­ter in a 3-1 vic­tory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scran­ton Pen­guins to com­plete a pre­sea­son sweep.

An­dre­off, Nic Aube-Kubel, and Mikhail Vorobyev all found the back of the net while goal­tender Jean-Fran­cois Berube was stel­lar in his first ac­tion as a Phan­tom, mak­ing 22 saves.

An­dre­off opened the scor­ing with a power-play tally af­ter redi­rect­ing a slap­shot from for­ward Greg Carey past Pen­guins goalie Emil Larmi at the 19:26 mark.

Berube was solid in his first 40 min­utes of pre­sea­son ac­tion, stop­ping all 13 shots that the Pen­guins sent his way. Berube spent the 2018-19 sea­son with the Cleve­land Mon­sters, post­ing a 3.01 goals al­lowed av­er­age over 43 games.

Early in the third pe­riod An­dre­off as­sisted Aube-Kubel to make it 2-0, and then late in the pe­riod Vorobyev re­stored the Phan­toms’ two-goal edge af­ter Ryan Hag­gert tal­lied for Wilkes-Barre/Scran­ton.
