LB has season-high 12 tackles, plus makes fumble recovery for Delaware
With Week 5 of the college football season in the books, it’s time to take a look at how some of the players from the Lehigh Valley have fared this season.
Football Championship Subdivision (FCS)
DELAWARE — LB Drew Nickles (Palisades) had a big day in the Blue Hens’ 17-14 loss to Pitt on Saturday, making a season-high 12 total tackles, including nine solo stops. Nickles also forced and recovered a fumble.
For the season, the Upper Black Eddy native has 30 total stops.
RICHMOND — Freshman LB Tristan Wheeler (Freedom) made 13 tackles, including nine solos, in Saturday’s game against Fordham.
NEW HAMPSHIRE — LB Cameron Brusko (Liberty) made two solo tackles Saturday in New Hampshire’s 23-6 win over Duquesne. The senior linebacker has racked up 27 total tackles and three for a loss over four games in 2019.
TOWSON — RB Shane Simpson (Easton) did not play in Towson’s 38-0 drubbing at the hands of Florida last week. He has not featured in a game since a Sept. 14 clash with Maine.
For the season, Simpson has totaled 162 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. He has also caught five passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
LAFAYETTE — DB Tre Jordan (Notre Dame GP) made one tackle on Saturday in Lafayette’s 28-24 loss to Penn. Jordan has posted seven tackles over three games this season.
WR Julian Spigner (Bethlehem Catholic) made one catch for four yards on Saturday. Spigner has hauled in 10 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns in 2019.
DUQUESNE — LB Jahan Worth (Parkland) made one tackle Saturday against New Hampshire. Worth has posted four tackles — three solos — in four games this season.
HARVARD — WR Joe Young (Freedom) saw action in the Crimson’s 42-7 win over Brown on Friday but did not record any stats.
STONY BROOK —LB EJ Fineran (Bethlehem Catholic) did not see any action in Stony Brook’s 31-27 win over Rhode Island. Finerian has not played since an Aug. 29 game against Bryant.
He has four total tackles — two solos — in 2019.
TEXAS STATE — DB Alvin Pacheco (Central Catholic) made one tackle in Saturday’s 24-3 win over Nicholls State. Pacheco has posted seven tackles, including four solo stops, this season.
Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS)
PENN STATE — WR Jahan Dotson (Nazareth) made three catches for 20 yards Friday in the Nittany Lions’ 59-0 victory over Maryland. Dotson has totaled 10 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns.
OL Dalton Daddona (Bethlehem Catholic), K Anthony DaSilva (Bethlehem Catholic) and K Carson Landis (Emmaus) have not played this season.
WR Colton Maxwell (Northampton) did not play Friday against Maryland but saw action in the season opener against Idaho. OL C.J. Thorpe (Central Catholic) did not play against Maryland.
TEMPLE — TE Kenny Yeboah (Parkland) made one catch for 7 yards in Saturday’s convincing 24-2 win over Georgia Tech at Lincoln Financial Field.
Yeboah has caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown this season.
RUTGERS — LB Jaohne Duggan (Liberty) made one tackle in Saturday’s loss to Michigan, Duggan has made six tackles over four games this season.
VIRGINIA — FS De’Vante Cross (Parkland) made five tackles and three solo stops in Saturday’s 35-20 loss to Notre Dame. Cross, a former QB for the Trojans, has made 23 total tackles and one tackle for a loss in 2019.
