Center stage: A’s, Rays battle it out
The Athletics hosted the Rays in the one-game AL wild-card playoff Wednesday night in Oakland, Calif. The A’s, second in the AL West to the Astros, were 52-29 on their home turf. The Rays, who finished behind the Yankees in the AL East, were 48-33 on the road. Just more than a year after shoulder surgery, left-hander Sean Manaea got the call to start for the A’s.
