Republicans are stepping all over our Constitution

The Morning Call - - TOWN SQUARE -

For those wondering why the Republican Party is unwilling to criticize and hold accountable Trump for his misdeeds, one must understand their core beliefs. They can be best summed up by this statement from Mike Pence’s acceptance speech at the 2016 Republican Convention. He said, “I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order.”

See what’s missing? He never said he was an American. One can say that it’s understood. However, if I were standing before a crowd of people that constantly exclaim their love of country, I certainly would have said I was an American first and not left it as an afterthought.

Let’s look at what has transpired since 2017. The Republican Party has pushed an agenda eroding our republic just to stay in power.

The current Ukraine scandal is a perfect example. Republicans stepping all over our Constitution just to stay in power.
