Celebrity chef cuts ribbon on Market
Robert Irvine, celebrity chef and star of numerous Food Network shows, will make an appearance at a special ribboncutting ceremony for the new Downtown Allentown Market on Oct. 11.
The 4 p.m. ceremony will kick off a full-weekend celebration, called Block Party Weekend, to promote the new food hall on the city’s ArtsWalk. There will be free entertainment and family activities all weekend long, starting Friday evening with door prizes, food and drink specials, live music and more. The market, which opened late last month, has nine vendors featuring high-quality, fast-casual food and beverages, including baked goods, coffee, soups, salads, sandwiches and craft beer.
Irvine’s “Fresh Kitchen” is part of the market, offering freshly prepared, unique but approachable dishes in a fast-casual, diner-style setting.
Irvine is the star of numerous Food Network shows, including “Restaurant Impossible” and “Dinner Impossible.”
Other vendors include: Little Miss Korea, an authentic, fresh Korean bowl concept with a one-year-old location at the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market; and Batch Microcreamery, a startup offering madefrom-scratch ice cream handcrafted on-site with fresh ingredients.
