Armed man makes off with $20,000 in jew­elry, po­lice say

State po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a Thurs­day rob­bery at a Kay Jewel­ers store in Hanover Town­ship, Le­high County, where an armed man made off with $20,000 in jew­elry.

The rob­bery hap­pened at 10:09 a.m. at 944 Air­port Cen­ter Drive. Ac­cord­ing to Trooper Nathan Bra­nosky, a man wear­ing a ski mask and a black parka pulled a gun on em­ploy­ees and made off with the jew­elry and $140 in cash from the reg­is­ter.

The man, who was car­ry­ing an or­ange bag, fled on foot, Bra­nosky said. Po­lice did not say if he got into a car.
