ACBL season canceled
The Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League held out hope for a season for the longest time, but joined a long list of other summer leagues in canceling the 2020 campaign last week due to the coronavirus outbreak and restrictions.
“League officials examined state and local guidelines and restrictions and determined it would be extremely difficult to operate efficiently while most importantly trying to maintain the safety and health of our players, coaches and umpires and fans,” said ACBL commissioner Angelo Fiore. “The risk of playing the season could not outweigh any possible rewards.”
The ACBL features the Allentown Railers, who would have been going for their fifth title in six years, and the Quakertown Blazers along with six other franchises from New Jersey and Staten Island.
