Woman dies after being swept away in flooding in Upper Saucon Township

A woman died Tuesday after being swept away in her vehicle in Upper Saucon Township during flooding from Tropical Storm Isaias, the Lehigh County coroner’s office said.

The 44-year-old woman, who has not been identified publicly, drove into high water in the 6300 block of North Main Street and was swept downstream, the coroner’s office said. North Main Street crosses over Laurel Run.

The woman was pronounced dead at 4:25 p.m. Her identity is being withheld pending notificati­on of her next of kin.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Upper Saucon Township police are investigat­ing.
