Trump went AWOL as wartime president
On March 18, President Trump declared himself a wartime president, referring to his position of responsibility in America’s upcoming battle in the COVID-19 virus pandemic. And then he went AWOL. He deserted the front lines and abandoned his leadership role to governors.
If he had acted truly presidential, leading the charge of our nation to victory over the virus, he could have enhanced his reelection chances. As Peter Drucker said, “Rank does not confer privilege or power. It imposes responsibility.”
President Trump has shirked his presidential responsibility. It is time for him to go.
