Easton police have filed charges against two men involved in a violent West Ward assault and robbery Saturday, which left a man unconscious.

Darryl Devon Williams, 35, of the 800 block of Ferry Street, was charged with aggravated assault with serious injury, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment. He was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Daniel Corpora and sent to Northampton County Jail under $50,000 bail.

Marvelous Stanton, 34, of Easton, has a warrant for his arrest on charges including aggravated assault with serious injury, robbery, two counts of conspiracy, simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Easton police say Stanton is in custody on issues relating to his probation, and arrangements are being made for his arraignment on the assault and robbery charges.

Records indicate he’s not been arraigned on the charges.

Court documents did not identify a third man who police say was caught on camera during the assault.

According to court records: The victim, identified by police only as J.C., was walking in the 900 block of Pine Street at 6:23 p.m. on Saturday when he was approached by a group of men who beat him into unconsciousness and stole his wallet and phone.

Easton police found surveillance footage of the attack from multiple homes in the area and identified Williams and Stanton as two of the suspects.

The video shows Williams, Stanton and the unidentified third man confronting J.C. Stanton attacked first, punching the victim in the head and body multiple times. Williams then punched J.C. in the face, knocking him backward. Then all three converged on the man, hitting him multiple times.

After J.C. tried to walk away from the assault, Williams landed a punch to the left side of his face, crumpling him to the pavement. Stanton then stomped on J.C.’s head and rifled through his pockets with the help of the third, unidentified man.

J.C. then regained consciousness, only to be attacked by three women. Two of the women are identified in court papers but have not been charged with a crime. The women hit J.C. multiple times before tossing him into the street, according to surveillance footage.

Easton police say the investigation into the assault by the women continues and charges are expected to be filed soon.

Easton police interviewed Stanton on Tuesday at the Northampton County Adult Probation and Parole Office. He said he saw some of the assault, but denied taking part in it until police showed him a still photo from the camera footage. The image showed the figure of the man who stomped on J.C.’s head and went into his pockets.

“Who would this be?” the detective asked Stanton.

“That’s me,” Stanton allegedly replied.
